A cool new way to get from A2B

img_9197_edit

EVB recently starting working with Ultra Motor to develop a social media campaign to promote the A2B Metro electric bicycle, which is unanimously one of the coolest products we’ve ever worked on.

If you’ve never road-tested one of these bikes you need too. They are fast, with a lot of torque, and are very fun to ride. They go about 20mph and get about 20 miles to a charge. You can ride them anywhere you ride a bike; park them on the sidewalk; and you don’t need a motorcycle license. Plus, they are totally green. Very cool.

Er…How exactly are they greener than the regular bycicles? Electrical things could only be green if electricity grew on trees. Unfortunately, this is not the case. In order to charge that bike, electricity has to be produced somewhere. And that usually menas coal plants. So when speaking about “green” things, try to see the whole picture.

By the way, claims about greenness are even more ridiculous when people talk about devices that run on hydrogen, since the production of hydrogen is even more energy consuming and “dirty”.

No one claimed that these bikes are more green than a normal bicycle. Of course not. They run on laptop battery, which charges in 4 hours on 110V, which makes them much more environmentally-friendly than a scooter, motorcycle or car.

A super cool and practical product. It would be great to have one on display at the Laguna Seca Moto GP races in early July. And yes, I want one.
