LeapFrog

FLY

LeapFrog single-handedly changed the face of the children’s toy market by imaginatively blurring the lines between education and entertainment. Their products showed parents and, more importantly, their kids that learning and playtime aren’t mutually exclusive.

They came to us with a new challenge, however. Their new product, the FLY Pentop Computer, was an extremely powerful device aimed at the most elusive, complex and socially misunderstood consumer in the world: the tween. So how do you tell an age group with an approximately five second attention span about a handheld pen-sized computer capable of calculating math problems, playing video games, translating languages, journaling and an almost infinite number of other tasks? Certainly not by writing anything as tedious as this.

Instead, we created a Flash video site, complete with tween hosts, that would demonstrate the endlessly capable device in fun and relevant ways. Incredibly progressive for its time, the site integrated digital video with Flash, creating a fresh experience that was fun, informative and surprisingly interactive.

With the help of the site, Fly launched as one of the most talked about products of the holiday season. It topped retailer top-ten lists, gift guides and officially became the most heavily manufactured item in Santa’s workshop for tweens, despite the fact that “they no longer believed.” A true Holiday miracle.
